Angeline will be making an appearance at the Orange County Children's Book Festival on October 4, 2009. I wish I could go with her! I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to send a copy of Angeline Jellybean and some promotional materials to the festival through the website AuthorsDen.

Recently, I've been writing for a brand new online magazine called Robin Falls Magazine. It is run by April Robins, leader of the Red River Writers group on Facebook. The magazine contains two sections. Red River Writers is where writers share tips, short stories, and book reviews. Robin Falls Kids for children, parents and teachers contains activities, poems, short stories, and reading advice. I have written two book reviews and an article about online promotion for writers, which will appear in the first issue this winter!

All this, and I'm gearing up for NaNoWriMo and the Muse Online Writer's Conference, too!

Book Trailer for Angeline Jellybean!

After months of procrastinating, I have finally made a book trailer for Angeline Jellybean. The process wasn't as hard as I thought, and in fact was lots of fun! I made the video using Windows Movie Maker, a free, easy to use program that came with my computer. You can now view the video on YouTube! I hope you enjoy.

Angeline Goes to the Zoo!

Today, July 25th, Angeline will be appearing at Oklahoma Zoo's 2nd Annual Author Expo! Vivian Zabel from 4RV Publishing will be there with a number of books, including my very own Angeline Jellybean! Angeline is very excited for the cotton candy Viv has promised her. ;-)

Today I would like to say thank you to all my friends and colleagues who took time out of their busy lives to host the blog tour for my book Angeline Jellybean! From favorite jellybean flavors to how the book got written, we sure covered a lot of material this week! I’ve received a lot of great reviews and feedback on my book. I’ve even met a few new authors. Can you believe that I actually came in contact with a children’s writer from my hometown of Altoona?

One of the things I love so much about blogging is that I get to interact with other writers all over the world. I network without boundaries, and I make some good friends in the process. To me, being an author isn’t about solitary confinement; it’s about having the entire world at your fingertips.

I’ve learned so much from all of you, and I hope you’ve learned from me as well. I look forward to continuing relationships with my fellow writers.

New Website, and Updating Old One

I've been thinking a lot lately about how to get kids more interested in reading and writing. I am working on a new website where I can take questions from kids about the writing process, post writing exercises, and share some of their work. I'm excited about starting it up, and I hope that I can keep up with it on a regular basis.

I'm also giving my regular site at http://crystaleecalderwood.bravehost.com a makeover. You can't see it yet, but it's getting a fresh, simple new look that I hope will be easy on the eyes.

It's been a busy week for me planning promotional stuff for Angeline as well. Look for updates about that soon.
